Aria is a sophisticated fantasy role-playing game set in an ancient world of living stories. In it, players portray Torchbearers – individuals who choose to defy the paths of destiny and bind the arcane power that stories hold in order to forge their own Fate anew, and bring hope to a shattered land.
At the table, Aria is a game about storied individuals coming together to form the bonds and relationships that create new legends greater than the sum of their parts.
The weave of the world has been written and unwritten by capricious gods for time immemorial, and now it falls to you and your companions to set it right, and inspire, embolden and rally the world against preordained crisis.
In play, stories in the world of Aria are not just the narratives experienced, but mechanical assets to be distributed and shared between character’s collective legend. For both the Game Master and the players, story arcs provide mechanics that give adventures distinct ebb and flow, power the Torchbearer’s supernatural abilities drawn from their deeds, and drive the interpersonal bonds that give motivation and momentum to the players’ stories.
Aria uses an updated and refined version of the HOPE Engine from the Award-Winning SINS. Its mechanics are built on a D6 Pool based engine, and are flexible enough to provide depth and customisation without dragging the game to a standstill, or sacrificing the cinematic roleplaying experiences we all strive for.
ARIA: The Crimson Path is an introductory adventure to the world that launches later this summer. Illustrated by the talented Jon Hodgson (The One Ring, Glorantha, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay,) The Crimson Path promises to invite players into a richly-detailed, elegant world of fantasy adventure.
